GUM Clinic - take precautions and get a check up

For personal safety, most of us are familiar with preventative measures, and take precautions against contracting sexual diseases. However, far fewer take the precaution of getting checked on a regular basis.

Visits to the GUM Clinic (Genito-urinary medicine Clinic) are located at most local hospitals and it is highly recommended that, if you are engaged in frequent sexual activity or are about to begin a new sexual relationship, you get a check up at the clinic.

GUM clinics, sometimes called Sexual Health Clinics, deal with Genito-urinary medicine which is concerned with sexual organs and the urinary system. GPs can refer you to the clinic if you have a problem in this area, however you can make an appointment without being referred by your GP.
