There is a recent trend towards reusable bags as Government initiatives attempt to curb the amount of plastic bags that go to waste. You may have noticed that most outlets now ask you whether you'd like a bag or not.
Paper carrier bags, traditionally a better choice for the environment, have been somewhat superseded by the eco-friendly canvas bag. There is some food for thought though in the form of a recent report that suggests that re-usable supermarket bags can be a breeding ground for bacteria.
Results on the other side of the Atlantic from a study on reusable bags suggest that canvas bags contain unacceptably high levels of bacteria and mold, posing public health risks.

Its worth noting that most paper carrier bags are made in part from recycled paper so the environmental cost is reduced. Our bags are made from 70% recycled paper.
